A LARGE ENGLISH CHRONOMETER CARRIAGE CLOCK

The large gilt-brass case of typical Frodsham style glazed to the sides and top with a gilt-brass shuttered removable rear panel, with folding handle above; The two train chain fusée movement signed on the backplate CHAs. FRODSHAM & CO 84 STRAND LONDON and numbered 1532, with reverse seconds chapter for starting purposes, sounding the hours and half hours on a gong with repeat button at the top of the case; the substantial spring detent escapement with blued steel helical hair spring on an engraved gilt platform; the gilt dial mask engraved, with a leaf and scroll decoration, with a recessed white enamel chapter signed by the maker with Roman numerals and blued steel fleur de lys hands and below white enamel power reserve dials for each of the trains.
With original numbered double-ended winding key. Provenance: The Shuttleworth family, Old Warden. Case height: 10 ¾ inches (27.5 cms).
