
A good George 111 period Bristol longcase clock.
The mahogany case of typical ‘Bristol’ style with panelled base and reeded canted corners; the break-arch hood, reeded in the arch with dentil moulding above; barley-twist columns with Corinthian capitols surmounted by three brass spire-ball finials. The brass dial showing phases of the moon, signed above the arch HIGH WATER AT BRISTOL KEY with tidal indicator, the engraved centre with seconds chapter and calendar aperture; the silvered chapter ring, signed Rich Baber, Blackwell, with Roman numerals and outside Arabic seconds at five minute intervals and pierced blued steel hands. The two train weight-driven movement with anchor escapement sounding the hours on a bell.
Case height: 6ft 10in (209.5cms).
