A very fine gilt-metal strut timepiece.

The well engraved oval case, retaining its original gilding, with folding strut to the rear, signed for C.F. HANCOCK, 39 Bruton Street, London and numbered 862 – 77; the engraved silvered dial with cipher to the centre having Roman numerals and blued steel fleur –de-lys hands. This fine example was probably made for the Great Exhibition of 1851.
