
A very large Victorian bracket clock.
The ebonised break-arch case with pierced brass sound frets to the sides and front, canted corners with brass mouldings standing on rococo feet; the brass dial with a matted centre, silvered chapter ring Roman numerals and Arabic seconds at five minute intervals and below three subsidiary dials for day, month (centre) and date, blued steel hands and spandrels. The substantial three-train fuseé movement sounding the quarters on four bells and the hours on a gong,; the well engraved backplate signed J C Penman London.
